Coach Recognition

Coaches of Georgia Forensic Coaches Association member schools are eligible for several honors that recognize their service to students, their schools, their communities, and the state organization.

2025 Nomination Process

The GFCA has officially opened its awards season. We encourage you to nominate deserving individuals using the forms below. This process will close on December 13, 2024. All of these awards will be presented at the GFCA Varsity State Championships on February 7, 2025 at Carrollton High School.

Coach of the Year

Every year since 1983, the Association has named a Coach of the Year. In 2011, the Association began recognizing two individuals: one as Debate Coach of the Year and another as Speech Coach of the Year.

The highest honor for any Georgia high school speech and debate coach is election to the Georgia Forensic Coaches Hall of Fame. Every other year, nominations are sought from member coaches. Prior to the State Championship, current Hall of Fame members and Executive Committee members vote to determine which nominees will be elected members of this most distinguished body.


Richard Bracknell Service Award

The 2024 Richard Bracknell Service Award recipient is Dr. Brittany Waters.

Individuals who perform service for the Association are eligible to be nominated for the Richard Bracknell Service Award.
